Cosmetic Botox

What is it?

Botox is an injectable solution that is used for the reduction and or removal of:

  • Vertical lines between the eyebrows
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Laugh Lines on the Nose
  • Migraine headaches

What are the Benefits?

  • Reduces or eliminates wrinkles without surgery.
  • No sedation or anesthetic is needed.
  • Corrects underlying muscles (as opposed to the skins surface or sub-layer the way peels do).
  • Reduces horizontal creases in forehead.
  • Reduces frown lines.
  • Minimizes the look of crows' feet and laugh lines.
  • Provides dramatic effects.
  • Effects are reversible.
  • Some patients report they no longer get migraine headaches.

How does it work?
A few drops of Botox are injected with a tiny needle into the muscle that creates a wrinkle. When Botox is injected into a muscle, it blocks the nerve impulse from reaching that area, and as a result, the muscle weakens. As the muscle weakens, the skin overlying the muscle relaxes and the wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and often disappear. Botox treatment does not effect normal facial expressions.

Who is a Candidate for Botox?
The best candidates for Botox treatment are men and women who are physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in their expectations. Most are 30 or older, but you may decide to have this procedure at a younger age in order to prevent premature wrinkles to appear

Safety and Side Effects
This procedure is one of the safest available for reduction of wrinkles. Botox has been used safely and successfully in ophthalmology for over 12 years and for wrinkle therapy for almost 10 years. It has been approved by the FDA for neurological disorders. In the amounts used for wrinkle therapy, the only possible side effects are temporary and localized to the area of injection. However, medical treatment is not an exact science and the degree of the improvement is variable. Occasionally there is no improvement and another form of treatment may be required.

What About Pain and Recovery Time?
When Botox is injected there is an initial minor sting for a few seconds. Once the injection is complete, there is usually no discomfort. Nearly all patients continue their daily activity immediately after the treatment.
